Open Road
How to Find a Past Driving Route
To find a past route, start with the app or device that recorded the journey. Open Road history can show drives recorded in Open Road. It cannot recover an unrecorded trip just because you remember the destination.
Free to download. Open Road Pro is optional, with a 3-day trial on the yearly plan.

Look for an actual record first
A destination in a navigation search is not the same as the route actually driven. A calendar event or photo may help you remember the day, but neither proves every turn. Start by identifying which app was recording at the time.
If you already used Open Road, browse the drive log by date and open the relevant saved drive. Compare the route, distance and time with what you remember. The screenshot on this page shows the history view, not a promise that your older trips already exist.
When you only know the endpoints
A planner can suggest a route between two places, but that is a new calculation. Traffic, diversions and your own stops may have taken you elsewhere. Label a reconstructed route as a reconstruction if you keep it in a journal.
Do not treat a line generated today as proof of your exact past drive. If a different service holds a record, use that service to inspect it; this page does not promise an Open Road import for those records.
Make future routes easier to find
Set up recording before the next drive and check a short journey. After a road trip, note the date alongside your photos so you can find the corresponding drive later. Use the combined roads map for overall coverage and the individual log for a specific day.

All driving guides and free toolsQuestions, answered
- Can I see where I drove yesterday?
- If a service recorded the journey, inspect that record. In Open Road, look for the saved drive by date. An unrecorded drive cannot be assumed to be recoverable.
- Does navigation history show the exact road I took?
- A searched destination or suggested route does not establish the exact route driven. Look for a recorded track.
- Can Open Road import any old route from another app?
- This guide does not promise cross-app import. Inspect the original service and check supported formats before assuming transfer is available.
