Open Road
Speedometer App for Android: Live Speed and Saved Drives
Use Open Road on Android to see GPS speed and keep the route, time, distance and top speed of a recorded drive. If you only need a quick reading, the online speedometer works in your browser without an install.
Free to download. Open Road Pro is optional, with a 3-day trial on the yearly plan.

Choose a live reading or a saved drive
A speed display answers how fast you are moving now. A drive tracker also keeps the journey so you can review it after parking. Open Road combines these tasks on Android; its saved-drive log gives the number a route and a date.
For a one-off check, start with our browser tool. For repeated drives, complete recording setup in the Android app before leaving. A browser session cannot be imported into Open Road later.
Set up Android before your first drive
Allow the location access requested by the app and enable precise location when offered. Check the app recording settings while parked. Android permission names and battery controls vary by phone manufacturer, so use your device settings rather than assuming every Android menu is identical.
Record a short familiar drive, park and check that its beginning and end appear in the log. If recording stopped with the screen off, review background location and battery restrictions before a longer journey.
Phone app and car display are different
The Android download is a phone app. Apple CarPlay requires an iPhone; an Android phone installation does not establish Android Auto support. Choose your download for the phone you actually use.
