Driving Roads / Pikes Peak Highway
This 19-mile toll road climbs from Cascade to the 14,115-foot summit of Pikes Peak, the same mountain made legendary by the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. It runs about 19 miles along Pikes Peak Highway (toll road) in Colorado, roughly ~2 hours round trip of driving.
Track the dramatic elevation gain and replay the climb to the clouds; cornering and altitude define this road, with mandatory low speeds near the top.
Thin air, steep grades and a brake-check station mean using low gears on descent and respecting the strict posted speed limits.
Open Road is free on iPhone and Android.
